Muslim girl banned from basketball game for wearing a hijab Source: Daily Mail Je'Nan Hayes was banned from basketball game for wearing a hijab. Hayes had recently competed in 24 games with her school and was benched at her finals. Je'Nan told CNN that she felt sad , angry and disappointed that she wasn't able to play the sport that she loves just because of her faith. At the March 3 game at Oxon Mill High School, the referee told her coach that unless Hayes provided proof of her religious need to wear the hijab, she couldn't participate in the game .School officials weren't aware about the rule before they arrived at Oxon Mill, and it hadn't been an issue for Hayes to play in any of her other games this year. Apparently the rule to not wear a hijab had been made so that it doesn't distract other players on the court. I chose this story because I think that Je'Nan Hayes was treated unfairly because anyone should have a right to expres

U sing your own detailed examples discuss the representation of contemporary issues in the media  (30 mark) The media is a huge part of people’s lives; people look at the media for some guidance and try to be like people they see on social  media. In this day and age the majority  of  the population are  apart of various different social  networks; such  as  twitter,   Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat the l ist goes on.  We mostly see on the media  a f alse representation  of women with the perfect skin , perfect body and per f ect lives, but what the media doesn't highlight is the fact that no one is  perfect however the media has a way of manipulating  young women's   minds  which in some cases may lead to  maybe suicide, eating disorders the list goes on.  The other issues of contemporary issues in the media is the way the media have people focusing on what they think will make the most views and what would make the most money. Black mirror is a TV series produced by Charlie Booker which he goes into the problems of our modern world. Episode 1 - The National Anthem Episode 1 Shows Prime Minister Michael Callow facing a huge and shocking dilemma involved him performing an inappropriate act with a pig to free Princess Susannah, a member of the Royal Family that has been kidnapped. I think the message behind this episode is to show how powerful the Internet and social media can be and how you can use it for good and bad. The episode also shows the prime minister being forced to do something that he really did not want to but was peer pressured by the society to do what they thought was right , another major factor was when practically the whole world was glued to the screen which lead to them not realizing that the princess had been released 30min early which shows how much the media brain washes people. I didn't like this episode because it was quite all over the place and didn't really
